I was never sure about Bromptons, but something clicked recently… they’re so goddam useful. I need one.

But not this one, as I’m sure you’ll agree, it’s a beaut, but it’s also on the bay with a £1500 buy it now.

In light of the whole Paperchase thing…

How I spend my weekends #2

As you may recall, or not, if you’ve never looked at my blog before, I’m attempting to keep myself busy at weekends.

Anyway, one of the methods employed, has been dragging my (frequently lazy) butt to exhibitions. In fact, I renewed my design museum membership to make sure I do. Currently showing is the ‘Less is more’ show documenting the works of legendary product designer (and more) Dieter Rams.

I have to say the exhibition is fantastic, if just for it’s muted, calm tones, with the two shots on here being one of the very few splashes of colour throughout.

I won’t bang on any more, there are thousands of articles about the legend that is Rams, especially on his influence on apple design, but I will say, go see.

p.s. this should in fact be #3 as I owe #2 to Mr. Spender and his lovely lady. A big thanks for a fantastic burns night. But… ummm… I forgot and didn’t take any pics…

‘Brod’s Old Piano Factory’

Well, you may remember I spent a day a few weeks back helping out my mate Brod with his house. Not in a manly breaking/fixing stuff way, but in a re-arranging objects and adding decals to a wall sort of a way.

Anyway, said arranging was prompted by the imminent arrival of apartment therapy at his pad.

They took some great shots of the house and wrote a nice little article to boot, why not go look? You know how much fun it is nosing around people’s houses and this way is totally legal.

I am however, quite offended my asteroid stickers didn’t make it.

Bike of the week

If you know me, then I’m sure you’ll agree I have a fairly unhealthy obsession with bikes. If you don’t know me, well… ummm… I’m obsessed with bikes. Not in a decked out in lycra sort of a way, I’m no weight weenie, I like different bikes.

So, I had decided to have a ‘Bike of the month’ feature, but there are far too many pretty things out there, so it’s going to be weekly.

First up is one the coolest things I’ve seen on Fixed Gear Gallery for quite some time.

Rick Huff’s Raleigh Twenty is a thing of beauty. If you’re not familiar with the Twenty, it’s a classic shopper, see below for how this bike looked at some stage in it’s life, I’m sure it’s a lot happier now…

Combining two of my greatest loves, stuffing my face and type geekery, these cutters are just perfect.

Please somebody, put them into production. Please…

Thanks to Michelle for the heads up.
