How I spend my weekends #something…

August 30th, 2010 by nipper

I’ve lost track of weekends since I’ve got here. Mainly as they’ve all been lovely.

Anyway, this weekend, I got to see The Whitest Boy Alive at the Tape Club and it really was rather amazing, then a few drinks in the very nice Amano. Great.

Thank you for organising tickets!

A rather ‘proper’ Berlin night out. Pizza at 4am. The aftermath. Me, stood near the bike shop. With a horrendous hangover. Building up the courage to ask ‘Entschuldigung, sprechen sie englisch?’. I did in the end. I should have a new bike on Monday. Pics will follow.

I haven’t ridden any of my bikes for over a week… working at home is evil. So! i decided today was the day and a took a little spin up to the Thames barrier, then followed the Thames path back down to Greenwich.

I love this ride, it’s weird, dirty and beautiful in equal measure.

I love the barrier, it could have looked so functional, which i guess it does, but it has a certain beauty to it too.

It gets pretty dirty and industrial around here, which i find fascinating.

Then opens up alongside the dome, or the arena, or whatever you want to call it.

Then you’re rudely dumped out next to the Blackwall tunnel, which is truly minging. Before heading back to picturesque Greenwich, which i always find a little disappointing.

Boy it’s hot.

How i spend my weekends #4, 5, 6…

Well, i’ve been a bit crap in documenting my attempts to busy myself. I blame this on being quite busy.

So, this is an attempt to keep you all up-to-date, i’m sure you’re interested, really i am.

Right, well, we had Claire & Jesper’s wedding first (and foremost), which was really rather lovely. Beautiful weather, lovely scenery (even if the gaps between human life left me a little freaked) and top company. Congratulations to you both!

I also got to meet the latest addition to the Hart family, introducing Alfie…

Believe me, that’s a rare moment of peace.

This is more like it. Check the 2nd frame. Too cute.

That’s Manos being assaulted btw. Which leads me into the next weekend, his birthday party. Very civilised, food, live music, a little *ahem* beer, all rather lovely.

Finally, we had Hart’s birthday shindig, where i was cruelly duped into being around an England match. Amends were made with delicious food of all shapes and sizes (sadly, my phone died, so no pics of the amazing broth/meat chargrilling/burner device Nige brought back from Thailand) and Manos took a pic of me, a pic i actually like, that’s a first. This might be vain, but here it is…

It’s amazing what you can do in camera, it really is… and no, it’s not posed, i didn’t know he took it.

Right that’s it for the catch up.

How I spend my weekends #2

As you may recall, or not, if you’ve never looked at my blog before, I’m attempting to keep myself busy at weekends.

Anyway, one of the methods employed, has been dragging my (frequently lazy) butt to exhibitions. In fact, I renewed my design museum membership to make sure I do. Currently showing is the ‘Less is more’ show documenting the works of legendary product designer (and more) Dieter Rams.

I have to say the exhibition is fantastic, if just for it’s muted, calm tones, with the two shots on here being one of the very few splashes of colour throughout.

I won’t bang on any more, there are thousands of articles about the legend that is Rams, especially on his influence on apple design, but I will say, go see.

p.s. this should in fact be #3 as I owe #2 to Mr. Spender and his lovely lady. A big thanks for a fantastic burns night. But… ummm… I forgot and didn’t take any pics…
