The bike…

Well, here he is, my Berlin ride. A Surly 1X1 I was going to call Mr. Snuffleupagus, as I thought he was orange, he’s not goddamit… So, i think ‘Monster Munch’ is his moniker for now.
Gazza, thanks for the prompt.

I went a bit CD crazy at the weekend, this rather splendid Thai funk compilation from Soul Jazz was just one of them. But, it’s packaging sets it apart.
Apparentley ‘The term ‘Luk Thung’ is derived from a phrase that literally means ’song of the child of the fields’. So there.
as i’ve mentioned before on this blog, i have a bit of a ‘thing’ about the day of the dead festival. i’d love to actually go, but in the meantime, i indulge myself with imagery and the odd object.
i bought a few items on ebay from the lovely, friendly and very helpful between the trees, now i’ve just found out she has a blog, hurrah!

In french. But still ace.
As part of my on-going crisis/retail therapy, I bought this from the really rather excellent The Great Frog
I do feel a bit ‘rock’, but i’m willing to put up with that. I want this too…

Fresh from the very helpful Mr King and created by the very talented Scrojo comes my latest purchase… and boy am i happy with it!
As you all know, i had a rather lovely time in Norfolk VA a little while ago, enjoying alleycats, trails and lashings of pizza. Whilst i didn’t actually see any derby when i was there, i met a few of the stars of the Norfolk scene, please take a bow all.
Anyway, i find all the associated media fascinating, amazing and very, very american (in a good way). Props to one and all.
Well, I tend to spend when I’m either happy with a purpose, or the opposite. I’d say these are the latter. They did cheer me up though…
Firstly, a rather natty ever ready case for my G10.

As you can see, all the way from HK.

I think it’s rather cool. I have to give the credit to a chap I saw walking down the street with one, just had to ask where he got it… ebay of course.
It’s already gouged a mark in the bottom of the G10, because I didn’t align it properly, but hey, that’s my fault.
Next up, from the same great folk i bought the Rotring pencils from, One-Stop-Japan-Shoppers, a Staedler pencil holder, very nice it is too.
Worth it for the packaging alone.

I’m hoping to go to Japan soon, it’s been on the list for quite some time, so now seems a good a time as any. I think the fact i found both the pencil holder and my rotrings there is good karma. Besides, I don’t deserve and shit karma, I’ve had plenty.
Well, sharpies have once again been my friend. So, i think it’s only fair i introduce this:

yes, another pen… well, more of a container, hence the name ’sherpa’. i saw it in kate’s paperie in new york and just had to make the purchase. i feel very subversive carrying a sharpie dressed up as a fountain pen.

i bought this munny many moons ago, and like a brand new sketchbook, it’s expanse of white scared the shit out of me.
then, in need of distraction, i finally tackled it! it’s quite tricky drawing on something so… well… ‘awkward’ but it was fun.

Well… I finally have the set, or atleast all the ones I want from the set. Mwah! Ah! ah…

So that’ll be rollerballs, foutains, trios, ballpens and pencils. I’m slightly embarrassed, but also very happy to have them.
Pride of place goes to the Rollerball pictured below, it’s an earlier edition and has the rather lovely knurled grip. It’s also numero uno as I didn’t buy it, brod did, i was/am very touched. My friends have been amazing in the last few weeks and this pen, as ridiculous as it sounds, kinda symbolizes all of the love and support right now. Anyway, the pen…
